## Volunteering abroad enhances your worldview. What does it mean to be a citizen of the world?

A [**Global Citizen**](https://blog.globalbrigades.org/global-brigades-and-global-citizenship?hsLang=en) is someone who is aware of and understands the world as a whole, as well as their place in it. They take an active role in their community and work with others to make the planet more equal, fair, and **[sustainable](https://info.globalbrigades.org/support/sustainable-development?hsLang=en)**.

Whether you go on one Brigade or become a lifelong Brigader, we hope that your experience with Global Brigades broadens your perspective and leaves you engaged in the world and your community for years to come.
