Guatemala Brigade Add-Ons

To add extra days to your Brigade, you will need to fundraise the corresponding donation amounts. Global Brigades will help you arrange all of the details.

Visit Antigua

Through this activity, you’ll discover some of the most iconic sights in Guatemala. We’ll start at Cerro de la Cruz, where you’ll have a beautiful view of Antigua Guatemala and its many churches from a strategic viewpoint.

We’ll then take a 15-minute walk to a jade museum, where you’ll learn about the history of jade in Guatemala and its connection to the country’s ancestors, and check Antigua’s most iconic landmarks!

Visit Lake Atitlan and Local Entrepreneurs

Located in the heart of the Guatemalan Highlands, Lake Atitlan is the deepest lake in Central America.

Learn more about Ancient Mayan culture, as the communities around the lake still maintain Maya folklore.

Visit Iximche + Nahual paiting activity

Through a short trip to Iximché, the first capital of Guatemala, located in Tecpán, you’ll discover part of the history of the Kaqchikel people, a Maya community whose culture has endured throughout the centuries.

You’ll have the opportunity to learn from a local tour guide as you walk through the site and hear about its history. You’ll also get to paint your own Maya nawual and discover your personal protector while learning more about Maya culture.

Eco-Stove Construction

Visit rural community projects in Guatemala and help implement Eco-Stove construction.

Eco-Stoves produce less particulate emissions, which helps improve health and respiratory diseases that are associated with traditional cooking.
