The Role of the Campus Chairperson Is to Represent and Oversee Global Brigades on Your Campus and in Your Community. This Role Empowers Chapters on Your Campus to Work Together Toward a Common Goal and Stay Connected.
In 2011, Global Brigades created the Campus Chairperson position to build a global movement of students who represent and embody Global Brigades' mission, vision, values, and holistic programming on their university campuses. There are currently more than 100 Campus Chairpersons around the world.
Their core responsibilities are to:
- Represent their university to Global Brigades staff, their university's administration, and other universities with Global Brigades Chapters.
- Unite and oversee all Chapters at their university, promoting collaboration and striving to represent the organization's holistic model.
- Grow the movement by raising awareness, starting new Chapters, and leading the conversation about the sustainable impact made by Global Brigades.
Who Are the Current Campus Chairpersons?
Our Campus Chairperson cohort has, as a group, visited all of our partner countries, contributed to all program areas, and participated in Brigades both virtually and in person. They are available as a resource for both current and prospective volunteers.

- Leadership Development: Being a Campus Chairperson allows you to develop valuable soft skills like communication, teamwork, and problem-solving for career development and future opportunities.
- Inside Scoop and Decision-Making: As a Campus Chairperson, you play an important role with Global Brigades by sharing the most up-to-date news and updates with your campus. You will be the first to know about program changes, the latest in-country initiatives, career opportunities, and more. Campus Chairpersons also have voting power, occasionally voting on important Global Brigades initiatives.
- Scholarships: As a reward for completing the Campus Chairperson program, recognized leaders may be eligible to receive a scholarship to cover their program contribution for up to one Brigade per school year.
