# Travel Insurance

## Insurance coverage during in-person Brigades

All volunteers registered to participate in a Global Brigades in-country program are automatically enrolled in an emergency travel insurance plan, underwritten by Zurich Insurance. This provides volunteers with emergency medical coverage and [**other travel protection**](https://blog.globalbrigades.org/are-global-brigades-safe?hsLang=en) during their program dates.

The travel insurance policy provides basic comprehensive travel coverage that includes but is not limited to the following types of coverage:

- Emergency in-country medical expenses – $100,000
- Deductible – $0 
- Emergency Medical Evacuation – 100% of expenses covered
- Repatriation of Mortal Remains – 100% of expenses covered
- Accidental Death and Dismemberment – $15,000
- Emergency Dental Care – $1,000 ($250 limit for alleviation of pain)
- Mental and Nervous Conditions – Covered
- Trip Cancellation – $1,000
- Emergency Reunion – $2,500

It is the responsibility of all volunteers to carefully review the information contained in these documents in order to familiarize themselves with what is covered under the policy.

**If you require emergency medical, travel, or security assistance while on a Brigade, our local staff will support you in getting the care you need, and will facilitate all medical, travel, or other insurance claims on your behalf.**

Please note that this insurance policy only covers emergency medical treatment. If you choose to obtain [**non-emergency medical treatment**](https://blog.globalbrigades.org/staying-healthy-when-volunteering-internationally?hsLang=en) during your program dates beyond what can be provided by staff physicians, you will be solely responsible for the associated costs.
